Gydja Collection, an Icelandic fashion label, recently unveiled a new fragrance for men called VJK Vatnajokull, which is made from water taken from Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajokull. The scent follows the success of Gydja Collection’s debut perfume EFJ Eyjafjallajokull, a perfume for women which was released last year.

“Since the success of EFJ Eyjafjallajokull, I received a number of requests to develop a scent suitable for men; so I decided to delve into creating a fragrance for men using similar identifiable tones to EFJ, but with a sharp, masculine edge,” said lead designer and founder Sigrun Lilja Gudjonsdottir. “We wanted a name synonymous with power and strength, and seeing as Vatnajökull is the largest glacier in Europe, we thought that the name fit the concept perfectly as it encompasses all of those elements of masculinity.”

The clear bottle has black lettering and a mountain range graphic and is topped off with a black cap. Thorvaldur “Thor” David Kristjansson, the Icelandic actor and Julliard School graduate, is the face of VJK Vatnajokull. “Thor is the perfect face and representative for VJK Vatnajokull as he has a strong Icelandic look and style, as well as being a gifted individual. I personally have a lot of faith in him and his work,” said Sigrun Lilja. For more information see www.gydjaperfume.com.
